GovAI is a whole-of-government service designed to uplift AI capability, enable efficient ways of working, and enhance productivity across all APS agencies. Services include learning resources, an AI app catalogue, peer-to-peer collaboration tools and a secure sandbox environment for testing and experimentation. AI in government fundamentals training course
This course has been designed to provide all APS staff, regardless of your experience, with foundational knowledge of AI, the principles of safe and responsible use, and how to put these to work in the APS. The course equips you to be:
- informed on the applications and risks of AI
- capable of applying relevant advice
- confident about when it's suitable to use generative AI
- empowered to apply your own judgement with AI.

The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the economy, society and government. While the technology is moving fast, the lasting impacts of AI on the activities of government are likely to be transformational.
This policy provides a framework to position the Australian Government as an exemplar under its broader safe and responsible AI agenda.

The National framework for the assurance of artificial intelligence in government was agreed to and released on 21 June 2024. It establishes cornerstones and practices of AI assurance, an essential part of the broader governance of how governments use AI.
